Over 73,000 Suzuki Motorcycles Recalled for Defective Part

February 28, 2011—The Motorcycle Lawyer at Ehline Law Firm is now confirming that according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 73,426 Suzuki motorcycles are being recalled.

The motorcycles have a defective electrical issue, which can cause the motorcycle to stall or not start. The defective part is a regulator/ rectifier assembly. The part has an insufficient amount of adhesion between the power module and rectifier case that contains a heat sink to dissipate heat. The defect in the amount of adhesion can cause the motorcycle battery to not start the bike or the bike to stall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall is scheduled to begin March 2nd and Suzuki distributors will replace the defective regulator/rectifier assemblies with an improved assembly.

The Brea based Suzuki and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall of the 73,426 Suzuki motorcycles includes models:

* 2008-2009 DL1000
* 2008-2009 GSF1250
* 2008-2009 GSX-R600
* 2008-2009 GSX-R750
* 2008 GSX1300B
* 2008-2010 GSX1300R
* 2008-2009 GSX650F
* 2009-2010 SFV650
* 2008-2010 VL800
* 2008-2009 VLR1800
* 2009-2010 VZ1500

According to the National Highway Traffic Administration the recall that has been issued can raise the risk factor in a motorcycle crash, since the motorcycle could stall due to the electrical defect.
