March 7, 2011-According to reports Chrysler has issued a recall for 20,459 Jeep Wrangler models from 2010 and 2011 due to an axle issue. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration some of the vehicles being recalled could have potential steering and handling problems due to an axel issue.
The problem according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration state that some of the vehicles could experience a degradation of fastener torque for various front and rear axle attachments to the chassis module. There could be a noise as a result or in extreme degradation there could be steering and handling issues that could lead to loss of directional control of the vehicle putting the driver at a high crash risk. Chrysler dealers will re-torque the fasteners that are related to the issue and they plan a formal recall this month.
